Watford could make a bid for Fluminense youngster Matheus Martins, according to reports from Brazil.
O Globo journalist Marcello Neves claims there’s ‘expectation’ that the Hornets will make an offer of between €8m and €9m for the youngster, who’s just been settling in the Tricolor’s first team this season.
That’s all the report says, also claiming that Watford have the same owners as Udinese, and in this case, the Pozzo family is indeed quite relevant to understand the situation.
That’s because this week, it’s been reported that the Italian club are in a strong pursuit for Matheus Martins.
It’s claimed that the club already placed four official bids for the player, with the last being of €7m, and all of them were rejected. So it seems it’s the Championship side who would have the better conditions to make this signing.
In case the negotiations develop, this would be one more chapter of a long relationship between Watford and Fluminense.
The Hornets have already shopped at the Rio de Janeiro side in the past, first when buying Richarlison in 2017 on a €12.4m deal, then buying João Pedro in 2020 for only €4m.
