Producing the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fékir, Lyon have a knack at finding and developing young talent.
That’s why when someone like Maxwel Cornet starts playing semi-regularly for the Ligue 1 team, scouts get excited and teams keep an eye on things.
One of the teams who appear to be a big fan of the 20-year-old are Watford, with L’Equipe’s Bilel Ghazi reporting on Thursday the Hornets have had a €12m bid rejected.
Info @lequipe : comme révélé par @kicker, Borussia discute pour Cornet (OL). Offre également de Watford (12M) et Cologne (15M). Refusées 1/2

Capable of playing along the front-three, the left-footed forward would certainly provide Marco Silva with a lot of options for the coming season, but he’ll have to see off some very tough competition if he is to get his man.
In the same tweet, the French journalist explains that Köln have also had a €15m bid rejected, and the reason for that appears to be because Borussia Dortmund are currently in talks with Lyon.
Seen as a potential replacement for Ousmane Dembélé were he to leave the Bundesliga outfit this summer, the Ivory Coast international (two caps, no goals) could probably be sold for a bit more.
After all, if Dortmund get upwards of €100m for the former Rennes starlet, then you’d think Lyon and their shrewd president would want at least €20m for Cornet in this market.
If Watford really are serious about signing him, they’re going to have to offer a fair bit more.
