After signing 16 players already in this transfer window, including Yoann Gouffran, Turkish side Goztepe are now interested in Newcastle United’s Achraf Lazaar, claim Fantatik.

The Moroccan left back joined Newcastle United from Palermo last summer, but has been unable to prove himself to Rafael Benitez.

Goztepe were showing a strong interest in former Aston Villa left back Aly Cissokho, before losing him to Yeni Malatyaspor. With the Turkish club determined to sign a left back before the transfer window closes, they are now reportedly targeting Newcastle United’s Lazaar.

Goztepe president Mehmet Sepil has confirmed his club are in the market for a defender, and that they expect to pay €700k.

Fanatik suggest the player in question is the Newcastle United defender, and Goztepe are now in talks to sign him. The Turkish club have also been linked with moves for Marvin Zeegelaar and Ali Adnan, but 25 year old Moroccan international Lazaar seems the club’s first choice.

Lazaar only featured 10 times for Newcastle United last season, and an exit this summer would be no surprise.
