Last week, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira made a bold statement claiming that Danilo, one of their biggest stars, is not moving to Europe in the summer window.
Following many rumours about the midfielder’s departure, the official made it clear that she won’t negotiate him so soon, as he should be an important piece in their 2022 season.
Now as Goal Brasil today writes about the clubs who’ve been frustrated with those quotes, the outlet reveals that Watford were one of the clubs who wanted to sign him.
The outlet claims the Hornets were ‘ready’ to make an offer for Danilo. Now they’re one of the sides who’ve been ‘discouraged’ from bidding for him.
Goal points out that Danilo is protected by a release clause worth €100m, and neither Watford and any other club have even considered paying something close to that.
The midfielder had only been linked to Arsenal in the Premier League, so it’s quite interesting to see this report now naming Watford in the race, even though their relegation to the Championship would obviously make the signing a lot more difficult.
