Back towards the end of August, Gerard Deulofeu made it clear he wanted to leave Watford following their relegation to the Championship.
The Spaniard was unable to help his club fight against the drop in the final stages of the Premier League due to injury, but that hasn’t stopped him from seeking a move to a top-tier league this summer.
He said he ‘will probably leave Watford’ in the coming months, but his next destination hasn’t been chosen yet.
Milan have been suggested as an option following his successful loan spell in Serie A during his time at Everton, but nothing has come from that avenue just yet.
However, the player isn’t short of offers, which was revealed Filippo Giraldi in an interview with Lady Radio, relayed by Firenze Viola.
He said: “He doesn’t miss anything, and I’m not just saying that. Last year, we experienced a bad season because of various elements. We shouldn’t have ended up where we are. Deulofeu scored five goals and got five assists in 28 games before getting hurt in the win over Liverpool.
“Paradoxically, I’d rather have lost and have him in the right matches. He matures at a different age and for me he’s ready to play in any European team. I’m sorry to say that because I’d like to keep him. The offers are not lacking already now”.
With Abdoulaye Doucouré already on his way out, it’s been made clear that Watford are willing to let their stars players go, but only at the right price, as shown by the £25m or so Everton are expected to pay for the Frenchman.
We’ll have to wait and see how much Deulofeu ends up going for, but our guess it’ll be for a similar fee.
