Etienne Capoue’s move from Watford to Valencia ‘seems clear’, but the ‘formula’ of the deal is yet to be finalised between the two clubs.
That’s what Mundo Deportivo report today, providing a small update on the Frenchman’s potential move to the Mestalla.
Reports over the last week have indicated that Capoue is a top target for the Spanish side, who need to sign players after selling off several stars this summer.
A report from Super Deporte today stated that he was their ‘most immediate objective’ and that negotiations between the two clubs were ‘very advanced.’
Mundo pick up on that and claim that a loan deal ‘seems clear’ at this stage but the two clubs are yet to decide whether it will include a purchase option and what the cost of that would be.
Marca, however, contradict this and say that they are ‘finalising’ a loan without a purchase option as that fits into Peter Lim’s desire to keep thing ‘low cost’.
Either way, Valencia are keen to sign the player as he comes with the ‘highest confidence’ of manager Javi Gracia, who worked him during his time in charge of Watford.
Capoue, for his part, had been ‘in favour’ of staying in England were he to leave Watford this summer, but the chance to sign for one of the big teams in La Liga and Gracia’s ‘confidence’ in him have made him accept Valencia’s offer.
All that needs to be sorted is the deal with the Hornets, whose clear out of their squad seems to be starting with earnest.
