Tottenham are a team to ‘watch out’ for this summer as clubs line up to sign Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say that Antonio Conte would ‘gladly re-embrace’ his former player at his new club.
The newspaper looks at Perisic’s future, with the suitors lining up after a superb season for the 33-year-old Croatian.
He’s managed seven goals and seven assists in 34 games in Serie A this season, playing as a left-wing back and with his contract expiring this summer, there are plenty of clubs looking at taking him.
Inter are battling to get him signed to a new deal, but in the meantime, with Juventus considering an approach as he could play as a wing-back or even as part of a 4-3-3.
They’re currently focusing on deals for Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria, but when they’re done, they will concentrate on other opportunities like Perisic.
That would be a controversial move, but it is not his only option, with Tuttosport stating that Tottenham are also a side to ‘watch out’ for.
That’s because Conte, who Perisic made 42 appearances for during his time at Inter, managing five goals and five assists, ‘would gladly re-embrace his former pupil.’
That’s presumably because of his reinvigoration as a wing-back, which would see him fit perfectly into the system Conte employs.
Indeed the left-wing back position has been a problem since he arrived, and perhaps an old acquaintance like Perisic, particularly after this season, could be a cheap option to solve it.
