Crystal Palace were in the ‘front row’ to take Borja Mayoral in the summer, but the deal was blocked by AS Roma manager José Mourinho.
The striker joined the Serie A side on a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid in 2020. The Portuguese tactician’s arrival has seen him settle for 27 minutes of action in the league, which came from three matches.
Unhappy with a lack of opportunities, various claims in the Italian media have stated the 24-year-old will leave the Giallorossi in January and Fiorentina seem to be leading the race to sign him.
According to Rodriguez, relayed by Viola News, the Eagles are still in the picture for the striker.
He claims Mayoral would be happy to join Fiorentina since he appreciates their game. The Serie A side, however, must ‘watch out for Crystal Palace’ because Patrick Vieira’s side have been ‘very interested’ in Mayoral since the summer.
Rodriguez further explains Real Madrid are in favour of doing business, but will ‘only sell him outright’ in the winter market and not send him out on another loan deal.
Fiorentina are ready to make an offer for Mayoral, but they must ‘beware’ of Crystal Palace.
