One of the areas of the pitch that Galatasaray are trying to improve this summer is their left-back position, and Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares has ended up on their radar.
The Portuguese defender has returned to the Gunners following a see-saw of a loan spell at Marseille, where he started off like a rocket before falling by the wayside during the second half of the campaign.
However, a further exit from Arsenal has been ruled out by the player’s agent, whether it be to Galatasaray or anywhere else, as revealed by TRT Spor journalist Tibet Töre on Twitter.
The reporter took to the social media platform to reveal he spoke to the agent of the Gunners defender, who gave him a statement.
The representative said: “Nuno is still under contract at Arsenal. He wants to stay in the team, but we’ll see what happens in the future.”
A lot will rest on Mikel Arteta’s plans, but taking into account he didn’t want Tavares at Arsenal last season and his lack of development at Marseille (unlike William Saliba the year before), he is unlikely to want him around for the upcoming campaign.
Therefore, an exit is likelier, perhaps on another loan, as the left-back has a contract with the Gunners until 2025.
