VfB Stuttgart were left frustrated this month after missing out on defender Emmanuel Agbadou to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That’s according to BILD, specifically their Stuttgart edition, who say the Wolves January signing was also on the German side’s transfer wish lists.

They report that Stuttgart had almost found a new defender this month as they look to strengthen their squad.

They were willing to pay a double-digit million transfer fee for the Ivorian but in the end no official transfer offer was made.

This is because Wolves ‘suddenly snubbed’ the German side and got in ahead of them. They eventually signed Agbadou from Reims for €20m. That was a figure Stuttgart was neither willing not able to keep up with financially.

For them it was a further demonstration that when clubs from England come calling, VfB cannot quite keep up.

They’ve been left frustrated on several fronts because of that fact and Agbadou’s move to Molineux is the latest example of it. They simply feel they cannot compete with the Premier League, even if it’s against a team who currently sit in the relegation zone.
