A couple of weeks ago we were the first to bring Leeds United fans news from Spain that Victor Orta was interesting Deportivo La Coruna and could be on the verge of leaving Yorkshire.
Street parties were planned in districts of Leeds (maybe) but we made it clear he was just one of a number of candidates, even when Depor started to finalise things down to a smaller selection.
Well, now there’s bad news for those Leeds fans who were already considering using a decorating table to hold an impromptu buffet in the street. El Desmarque, one of the first with the claims of Orta interest, reckon he’s now out of the running.
Depor have decided to appoint Luis Helguera of Las Palmas, and if the latest claims are correct then negotiations are very advanced.
El Desmarque make it sound like Orta has been discarded, but to be fair to the Leeds United transfer guru, it was always presented as Depor chasing him.
Not that they were convinced he was the right man, just they wanted a chat, so had one, and now they’ve moved on to someone else.
Pack the bunting away.
