Manchester City have reportedly set their transfer plans for the January transfer window already.

According to Brazilian website UOL today, Pep Guardiola’s side will be focused on signing a new defender for the squad.

It’s claimed that Manchester City don’t rule out players for other positions, but that will depend on the opportunities from the market. For now, the defense is really the priority, due to the injuries centre-backs have been having.

Manchester City have two names on the list: Johnny Evans from West Brom and Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.

Evans is a more realistic signing since he would be cheaper and easier to get. To sign Van Dijk, Manchester City would have to work harder.

Still yesterday, Italian website Calciomercato named City as a possible destination for Milan’s Leonardo Bonucci as well.

Now you may be thinking why is a Brazilian website breaking news about Manchester City’s transfer plans, but UOL have earned some credit in the past few months. With constant interviews and reports about City, their correspondent in England has been doing a great job when covering the club.
