After Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League at Parc des Princes, Jurgen Klopp expressed his frustration towards the behaviour of some players of the host club, including that of Neymar.
However, L’Equipe were in no mood to take the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s comments into consideration when they came up with the player ratings in today’s edition of the French newspaper.
They’re always very tough on ratings, and it often leads to some bemusement and annoyance.
The Reds boss started Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane to lead his side’s attack and it was the former who L’Equipe say struggled to impress against the Ligue 1 winners.
Having scored three goals in his last three appearances for club and country, L’Equipe mentions Salah was ‘unable to make the slightest difference’ against Thomas Tuchel’s side in the European competition.
He failed to score a goal, register an assist or have a shot on target against PSG. The report mentions it was a surprise that Klopp decided to keep him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
The manager himself was only rated 4/10 and the average across the team was 4.3/10.
