Saïd Benrahma’s transfer from West Ham United to Lyon is now being finalised, according to reports.

As claimed by journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 28-year-old is ‘on the verge’ of completing his loan deal to the French side.

It’s said that Lyon will pay West Ham €5m to have the player until the end of the season. Then they’ll have the chance to make the transfer permanent for other €12m in the summer.

This should be the end of a long mission engaged by the French club to get Benrahma signed, as reports from the local media had been detailing their pursuit since the end of December.

Amid the deadline day chaos, it was even reported today that Fulham tried to get in the fight for the player by making a late effort… but then Fulham appear to have done that for multiple players today.

Still, with Lyon having such advanced talks with West Ham, it seems the Craven Cottage side never stood a chance of hijacking the deal.

Plettenberg also points out the departure of Pablo Fornals from the Hammers, as he’s about to join Real Betis in a €10m deal.
