According to Aksam, two scouts from Newcastle United travelled to Istanbul at the weekend to watch Besiktas midfielder Dorukhan Tokoz in action against Galatasaray.
Aksam report Newcastle United scouts have been following Tokoz during the second half of the season and were eager to see what he could do against Galatasaray in a potential title-deciding game.
The Turkish newspaper claims Dorukhan’s performance wasn’t good and the Newcastle United officials wouldn’t have been impressed with the youngster.
However, Aksam say the Premier League side will continue to follow him until the end of the season and could still make a move for him this summer.
Tokoz has also been linked with a move to West Ham United in recent weeks and it’s reported Besiktas could look to sell him due to financial difficulties.
He’s made 24 appearances for the Istanbul club this season, scoring three goals. The 22 year old is under contract at the Vodafone Arena until June 2021.
