Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he gave the club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, a list of five names to bring in this summer.
So far, the Red Devils have completed three signings – Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant.
It’s unlikely Grant, and maybe even Dalot, were among Mourinho’s core transfer plans.
Spanish newspaper Marca reckon they know two of the five names: Toni Kroos and Gareth Bale.
Earlier in June, it was AS who claimed that United were planning to ‘make a great offer’ for the German midfielder, before the same publication reported last month that Mourinho was ‘insisting’ his employer to sign the former Bayern Munich man.
The Premier League outfit’s manager wanted Bale and Kroos as the two main players to allow him to fight for the title next season.
Unfortunately for them, Real Madrid rejected both the approaches because the duo are important players to the club’s current project.
Bale is the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to Juventus, and Kroos is the key man in Real Madrid’s midfield, thus, it was always going to be difficult to bring the two to Old Trafford.
If there are any Manchester United fans looking for a slight hope, Bale is already getting criticism from El Confidencial after his performance in the friendly.
