Near enough every Monday, Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week has a Premier League player or several included, but it’s not so often that a single team gets more than one inclusion.
Preferring to share the love around, multiple players from the same side are usually avoided, but Manchester City’s demolition of Stoke City on Saturday has meant there’s no avoiding wedging a couple of Pep’s stars in.
Kevin de Bruyne is of course first, and the Belgian gets a very impressive 9 rating. That’s an excellent mark from Gazzetta dello Sport, who don’t throw around 7 and 8s for ‘ok’ performances.
De Bruyne is joined by his Manchester City teammate Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian keeping on his steam-train of success. Given an impressive 8, Jesus is not so slowly, but very surely, pushing himself up into the higher echelons of football.
De Bruyne picked up two assists against Stoke, whilst Jesus scored two goals.
What price either player now? Easily several times what Manchester City paid for Jesus, and De Bruyne even looks a bargain after his big money Bundesliga move.
