It looks like Sander Berge’s season for Sheffield United has really drawn some attention from Italy.
A week ago, we covered the local media reporting Fiorentina were interested in the Blades’ midfielder. It was claimed La Viola had chased the player a long time ago, and could be back for him this summer.
Now in more reports from the Italian media, it’s claimed that Napoli have the 23-year-old as a target as well.
The information comes from Paolo Bargiggia, who’s labelled a ‘transfer market expert’, and was interviewed today by 1 Station Radio. He’s been analysing the names the Serie A side have on their list, and Berge is mentioned once again.
“For the logic of costs and adaptability to Serie A, the most plausible name is Morten Thorsby of Sampdoria, valued 8 million by the Blucerchiati. Joao Palhinha of Sporting was offered to the Neapolitans and Sander Berge of Sheffield United, who is close to Thorsby’s. It continues with Anguissa of Fulham, even if my channels always break him. There is also talk of Sissoko of Tottenham.”
It’s Area Napoli who brings the quotes, and when transcribing what Bargiggia says, they point out in parenthesis that the player would cost between €12m and €13m million. It’s just not clear if he said that or if it’s the website adding the information.
