In the winter market, Barcelona signed Kevin-Prince Boateng on loan from Sassuolo as a backup for Luis Suarez. He failed to find the back of the net in any competitions during his short spell at the Camp Nou.
Friday’s edition of Sport states the La Liga winners are looking for a ‘No 9’ who can provide competition to the Uruguayan and also score a lot of goals.
Barca are clear they don’t want to bring in an ageing player and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his Arsenal teammate Alexandre Lacazette are included in the list of summer targets.
The Catalan newspaper claims the transfer ‘call’ from the Blaugrana would be ‘attractive’ for them, especially after the Gunners failed to beat Chelsea in the Europa League final and, with that, also lost their chance of qualifying for the next season’s Champions League.
The downside is the duo have a contract with Unai Emery’s side and Transfermarkt values Aubameyang at €75m and his attacking partner at the Emirates at €65m, which is still likely short of their actual market value.
In addition to this, they have their place secure at Arsenal, something which may not be the case if either one of them joins Barca.
