Turkish newspaper Haber Turk have claimed Besiktas are interested in signing Chelsea’s Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Haber Turk have revealed Besiktas president Fikret Orman was in London last week and already has an agreement in principle with Chelsea for the transfer. They also say personal terms between Besiktas and Ivanovic have already been agreed, barring a few minor details.
Besiktas’ president has informed manger Senol Gunes of the progress, who is thought to be very happy at the thought of a deal for Ivanovic.
The Turkish club have defensive issues and Chelsea’s Ivanovic, out of favour under Antonio Conte, is seen as an option.
Ivanovic started Chelsea’s first 6 games this season but since Antonio Conte returned to his trusted 3-4-3 formation the Serbian international has lost his place.
The 32-year old has also been linked with moves to Barcelona and Juventus in recent weeks, and they’d initially be more attractive than Besiktas.
However, the Turkish club would likely offer a longer contract, and their interest may be more real. The Turkish media often jump the gun, like everywhere really, but they often have scoops, whether this Chelsea agreement is one remains to be seen.
