Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach winger Jonas Hofmann and has already been in contact about a move.
That’s according to BILD, who say the Blues boss is keen on a reunion with the 28-year-old after working with him at Borussia Dortmund.
The newspaper reports that after manager Monchengladbach manager Marco Rose decided to move to Dortmund in the summer, their players will be ‘sure to ponder’ their own futures.
One of those is Hofmann, who is ‘igniting’ his career this season and has six goals and ten assists in 21 games so far.
That’s earned him plenty of attention and apparently some from Chelsea manager Tuchel, who has the player ‘on the note’.
He trained the player during his time at Dortmund, and, according to BILD’s information, there has already been contact between Tuchel and Hofmann’s advisors.
The Chelsea boss is said to have asked Hofmann’s advisor about the right-winger through a ‘close employee’ in his own coaching staff.
The player, for his part, is ‘quite ready’ to leave Gladbach should he receive an ‘attractive offer’ to do so.
It’s not the first time he’s been linked with a move to England and London as Tottenham were keen at the beginning of 2019, but he instead decided to extend his contract with Gladbach.
Now Chelsea are apparently keen, although the lack of an exit clause in his contract means Gladbach, director of football Max Eberl, can ‘negotiate freely’ over a transfer price.
