Oliver Burke to Crystal Palace has been a growing rumour over the past few days.
After German football magazine Kicker reported ‘concrete’ interest from Crystal Palace in signing the former Nottingham Forest player, the rumour grew further in the German media.
Bild reported RB Leipzig would be looking for a fee of €18m, despite only paying around €15m for the player last summer.
Considering how much Burke has been talked down in the German media, and portrayed as something of a flop, it seemed ridiculous that Crystal Palace would consider handing RB a profit on the player.
The Mitteldeutsche Zeitung have done a little digging, and they think the claims are premature. A source at RB has informed the newspaper there’s been no offer from Crystal Palace, and not even any contact about potentially signing Burke.
As far as Mitteldeutsche Zeitung are concerned, a move during the winter window or next summer is likelier than the youngster switching clubs before the end of the window.
In his press conference on Friday, Frank de Boer answered questions on Burke and sounded positive about the player, but it would appear Crystal Palace haven’t made any actual effort yet.
