Last January, Watford signed Gerard Deulofeu on a loan deal from Barcelona until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Javi Gracia was appointed as the Premier League outfit’s manager in January 2018 and days later, he urged the club to bring the Spaniard from the La Liga winners.
Despite him struggling with injury, the forward’s move to Vicarage Road was made permanent before the start of this campaign and he signed a five-year deal with the Hornets, which will run down in 2023.
The former Everton man sat down for an interview with Mundo Deportivo, which is published in today’s edition of the Catalan newspaper.
The English side have enjoyed a good campaign so far and Deulofeu has contributed by scoring six goals and registering four assists in the league. The Spaniard added that he feels valued at Watford.
“I’m happy with how things are going this season. The objective is to keep the seventh place in the league and we are also alive in the FA Cup,” Deulofeu said.
“I feel important and that the team needs me. My goals and assists statistics could be better but collective triumph is what really matters.”
