Real Madrid play their first Club World Cup match on Wednesday against Al-Hilal, and have been training in Palm Beach Gardens ahead of the match.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is part of the group after Los Blancos agreed a deal to sign him from Liverpool early, so he could play in the FIFA tournament. The 26-year-old had been set to join Real Madrid after his Anfield contract expired on June 30th, and efforts were made to make sure he could arrive from Liverpool early.
The England international had his Real Madrid presentation last week and impressed everyone with the level of Spanish he was able to speak. Now the task is to integrate himself into the club’s squad, which as with most transfers, especially overseas ones to such big clubs, will be a process.
Spanish newspaper El Pais report on Real Madrid’s training camp and explain Alexander-Arnold has been a little within himself since arriving from Liverpool, making sure he stays near close friend Jude Bellingham.
El Pais explain: ‘The Englishman has seemed particularly shy, for the first time at another club after 20 years at Liverpool. He has joined the foreigners’ rondo, where he hasn’t left his friend Jude Bellingham alone: by his side or following him during any exercise.’
Getting a couple of games under his belt will surely do Alexander-Arnold the world of good.
