On March 18th, we carried a report from Sport, who explained Tottenham Hotspur ‘would be willing’ to sign Gareth Bale in the summer, if Real Madrid agree to terminate his contract.
The forward’s current deal at Santiago Bernabéu is until 2022 and he earns €14.5m net per season.
Having left Tottenham for the Spanish club in 2013, the 30-year-old has been linked with a return to the Premier League repeatedly since then, with Spurs and Manchester United getting the most reports.
Bale will turn 31 years of age in July and AS claims the Welshman ‘will face his departure this summer’.
While discussing potential destinations, the Spanish newspaper mentions about the attacker’s failed move to China last summer.
A return to the north London club is also mentioned, but the report states a transfer to Tottenham is ‘considered impossible’ by Bale’s agents. It’s not just a move to Spurs, but ‘in reality, his return to the Premier is practically ruled out’.
Sport earlier suggested a return to Tottenham would have been possible, if Spurs were allowed to sign Bale on a free transfer. However, AS’ report now indicates that possibility doesn’t now exist.
