A week ago we covered claims from Germany that Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are ‘intensively involved’ in the chase to sign Max Kruse this summer.
The striker, who turned 31 years of age last month, has scored ten Bundesliga goals for Werder Bremen so far this season, with six of those coming in the past four matches. He also has eight assists to his name.
With a contract expiring at the end of June, and Werder not being in the best position financially, an exit is thought to be a genuinely possibility.
Bild have mentioned Tottenham in a report on the player’s future.
They quote Kruse himself as saying: “Of course there are things that I would listen to. You have to say that honestly. If it were to happen, I would have to deal with it.”
The German newspaper say that whilst Werder will go right to their pain threshold to try for a renewal, Kruse can also choose to move elsewhere. Bild then add: ‘If the offer is then also from a well-known top club or Champions League participants, a farewell is more likely.’
Tottenham would likely fall into such a category, and should Fernando Llorente leave with the expiration of his contract, there’s room for another centre forward.
Kruse is more flexible than the Spaniard, and can play further back, behind a striker or two.
