Steven N’Zonzi on Tuesday denied claims he’d been given permission to hold transfer talks in London, with Everton and Arsenal mentioned, this week. Explaining he was actually in London to see his son, the Sevilla midfield made sure not to dampen transfer claims.
Making it clear he’s eyeing a way out of Sevilla, N’Zonzi explained it’s a shame things are ending this way, before then going on to push all the blame to Sevilla and question how the club is being run since the departure of Monchi.
Unsurprisingly, L’Equipe now say the player’s exit in January ‘seems inevitable’. Sevilla want him out, something the Seville press have been saying increasingly over the past week, and N’Zonzi wants to go himself.
With Arsenal links almost certainly the product of false claims of London talks, they can be put to one side for now, and that leaves Everton as the only club seriously linked with N’Zonzi recently.
The Sam Allardyce factor is thought to be key, after the pair worked together at Blakcburn Rovers, and Everton could provide the big contract N’Zonzi seems to want.
It can’t be long before rumours start of Sandro going the other way to bring the cost, estimated at €30m, down.
