Jonathan Barnett is fully fighting Gareth Bale’s corner at the moment, as the agent certainly should be.
Real Madrid are clearly making attempts to force the Welshman out, but Barnett isn’t prepared to see his client bullied, and has made it very clear Bale won’t be doing anything he doesn’t want to.
Aside from dealing with a tough agent, Madrid’s other Bale problem is finding a club which wants him and is able and willing to pay what it would cost. Even the Spanish media are running out of imagination on this one, so Manchester United are continually linked.
The Red Devils had long standing interest in Bale, yet last summer felt like the last time a deal would make real sense, especially with Jose Mourinho making no secret of his interest.
Despite that, Marca say a transfer to Manchester United has been seen as ‘more feasible’ than other options. Indeed, no other club is named, the Spanish newspaper don’t even try to drag Tottenham in this time.
A negative for Manchester United’s attraction as a club is their lack of Champions League football. That would only become an issue if they genuinely try to sign the player.
