Manchester United are interested in a move for Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, but they’re only his ‘second-best option’ this summer.
That’s according to AS, who essentially say a move to Old Trafford is very unlikely for the Brazilian this year.
They explain that because of Brexit, Real Madrid have something of an issue on their hands as Gareth Bale is now considered a non-EU player.
That means there are four in the squad, and with the limit being three, somebody is going to have to make way.
Naturally, they would prefer that to be Bale, but finding a suitor for him is no easy task, and so the prospect of Vinicius leaving is now a thing.
His situation is said to ‘generate the most uncertainty’ at the Bernabeu; with it known, he could be used as a bargaining chip in deals as he has ‘the best prospects and a big name’.
For now, his future at the club is ‘not in danger’, but there is a feeling that could change in the coming weeks.
That is where Manchester United come into it, as the ‘interest of the Red Devils’ is there, but they are considered the ‘second-best option’ for the forward, as it is far behind the idea of staying in Madrid.
At the moment, it is believed it would be ‘difficult’ for the player to move to Old Trafford as Manchester United have already signed Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for big fees and the club are now focused on departures.
The interest is there, though, nonetheless and if things change in the coming weeks, this may be a rumour we see popping up once again.
