On January 15th, we covered a report from France Football that Watford were ‘about to advance’ with an offer for Bordeaux’s François Kamano.
A day later, the same publication reported the Hornets are ‘currently in talks’ with the Ligue 1 outfit for the 22-year-old, but his agent Hugo Varela rubbished these rumours and told L’Equipe that no one from the club has contacted him.
Another French outlet Le10 Sport reports the forward is still drawing interest from Javi Gracia’s side and they have an explanation as to why the English side turned their attention towards him.
Watford are looking to strengthen their attack and had identified Maxwel Cornet as a target in the winter market.
To secure his services, they were ready to pay €20m to Lyon, but the player himself said no to the option of moving to the Vicarage Road. This was backed up by French claims over the weekend.
This is why the Premier League outfit’s leaders have turned their attention towards Kamano and are ‘seriously’ considering going ‘on the offensive’ for the player, who is also on the radar of AS Monaco.
Just like in Cornet’s case, Watford are set for another disappointment here because Bordeaux are unlikely to allow Kamano leave in January, unless the pile of money becomes so huge it’s hard to ignore.
