Even though Porto seem to be pretty happy with the loan spell that Marko Grujic is having at the club, it still doesn’t mean they’ll buy him from Liverpool at the end of the season.
Newspaper A Bola features a story today claiming the only way the midfielder could stay with the Dragons would be with a new loan.
Liverpool are said to be demanding €20m for the player, and that’s something that is ‘out of question’ for the Portuguese side this summer.
Porto are then expected to sit and talk with the Reds, but for a new deal to be agreed, that will clearly depend on several factors.
The most important thing is that no other club shows up willing to pay Liverpool that amount.
According to A Bola, that’s a scenario which is ‘not so obvious’ following the pandemic crisis.
The newspaper writes that Grujic will be key to convince the Anfield side to let him stay at Porto, this time with a purchase clause included.
The player had already pushed for the move last summer, when he turned down offers from three ‘midtable clubs’ from England.
The Dragons are now hopeful they can convince Liverpool that the midfielder will continue growing in value at the club, and provide a bigger profit in 2022.
