The completion of Diego Lopez’s transfer from AC Milan to Espanyol, where the goalkeeper is currently on loan, ‘seems to be only a matter of time’ reports Spanish newspaper Sport.
There’s already an ‘agreement in principle’ on the summer transfer, and only the ‘finishing touches’ need to be made to a deal for completion.
This is significant development for Pau Lopez’s future at Tottenham, because all season the Spanish sport media have made it clear that Espanyol need the Pau money to do a deal for Diego.
It’s been repeated several times in Spain that Pau Lopez to Tottenham is a sure thing, even if there have been hiccups over the player’s price. Espanyol agreed a €7m fee with Tottenham, but the Premier League club have been pushing for that to come down, a task they’ve likely succeeded in.
A couple of weeks ago it was reported in Spain that Pau to Tottenham was pretty much done, and the fee could be around €5m. An ‘agreement in principle’ for Diego Lopez would back that up.
Pau Lopez is expected is expected to become Tottenham’s second choice, behind Hugo Lloris, which puts doubt on the future of Michel Vorm.
