Idrissa Gueye was one of the players Thomas Tuchel set his sights on during the January transfer window. The PSG manager was looking for an addition in midfielder, and the Everton player was the clear frontrunner at one stage.

The Premier League club played tough and weren’t simply prepared to bow to PSG.

There was a certain arrogance coming out of the French club, via their local media, and an assumption that sooner or later the Toffees would cave.

Gueye, understandably, wanted the move and whilst there were suggestions of some agitating, it certainly didn’t get to the stage that it helped PSG… perhaps quite the opposite.

A summer move has since been rumoured on several occasions, and this week’s edition of France Football does the same.

They report PSG’s track to signing Gueye is ‘still active’, and ‘could become hot again’ ahead of the summer window.

Once again it’s stated Tuchel ‘appreciates’ the player, and he’s one of several midfield options for the Ligue 1 champions.
