If the Italian media are to be believed, there’s a strong chance that, over the next few months, Tottenham will make an official move for Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen.
The Denmark international could be seen as the ‘next Skriniar’, seeing as he comes from the same club and Inter also want him, helped by the fact only prestigious clubs are sniffing around him.
While it started off just as a battle between Tottenham and Luciano Spalletti’s side, José Mourinho and Manchester United have joined the fray, yet Gazzetta dello Sport do make it clear on Tuesday they haven’t made as much effort as the other two in trying to sign him.
As things stand, the Red Devils have ‘only’ gone to watch him in games, once allegedly sending four scouts in one go, while Spurs are pushing a bit more.
The Italian newspaper also state the orders have come from Mauricio Pochettino directly, rather than it being the scouting team recommending the 22-year-old to the manager.
There were claims late last week that Sampdoria’s director of football had travelled to London to meet with Tottenham about his starlet, also seeing Arsenal in the process, but we’ve yet to hear the outcome of that.
If the orders come from Pochettino himself, then there’s certainly a real worry Toby Alderweireld will not be there next season.
