Over the past month there have been countless Catalan articles about how signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham is almost impossible.

Whilst the way the Spanish media talk the transfer down doesn’t often make it into the English version of articles, it is very much the overriding theme.

Mundo Deportivo cover it again on Sunday and use the words ‘almost impossible’. The problem is of course Tottenham and the reputation Daniel Levy has managed to build for the club when it comes to transfers.

Barcelona know they can’t bully Spurs because of the club’s ‘excellent financial health’. There’s no need to sell at Tottenham and a determination to go with it, moving into the new stadium is another step forward and Harry Kane signing his contract another sign of the way things are going.

The Catalan media may like Eriksen and Barcelona may be looking for a star after Antoine Griezmann decided to stay put, but this one is considered too hard.
