Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his side’s defence for next season.
The north London club have already been credited with an interest in a handful of centre-backs.
Alessandro Bastoni is included in the list of targets, as the Inter Milan player has been repeatedly linked to Tottenham in the past few weeks.
FcInterNews explain that Spurs are among the clubs to be showing interest in the 23-year-old, who has ‘no desire to leave’ the Serie A side this summer. Simone Inzaghi would also be against the idea of letting him make a move away from the San Siro.
Steven Zhang, the Nerazzurri chairman, would let the Italy international leave if there is an offer of €70m, however, Inter have not received any offers for him so far.
Another report from FcInterNews relays Bastoni’s desire to stay at the club. They add the will of the player can sometimes clash with that of the club. The defender, who has several suitors, is ‘seriously in danger’ of being sacrificed as Inter have to balance their books.
Tottenham interest is driven by their manager. It’s said ‘Conte is crazy about him’, and has ‘always been’ crazy about the player, ever since he relegated Diego Godin to the bench during the latter’s time at Inter.
Bastoni is currently with his national team and his immediate focus is Italy. His agent, Tullio Tinti, is working on his client’s future.
Although Bastoni wants to continue at Inter, his stay at the San Siro is not guaranteed since the club can sacrifice him to raise funds. If Tottenham were to make a €70m offer, then Inter could try to convince him to accept a move to Spurs.
