On Thursday afternoon, Catalan outlet TV3 claimed Barcelona are working on a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of Clement Lenglet.
It’s said the clubs are trying to close an agreement for a two-season loan, as he’s been ‘receptive’ to the idea of leaving the Camp Nou side on a temporary deal.
That was enough for local outlets to go after this story, so we now see a couple of updates on it.
It was first Sport who brought their own information on the case. They claim that Tottenham indeed tried to sign Lenglet on a two-season deal, but since there’ll soon be a new rule for loans to only take place for one season, that’s now an issue.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claim to have spoken to Lenglet’s entourage, who said they know nothing about this situation.
Still, the outlet points out Barcelona need to get rid of some salaries in the squad, so even though the ideal move would be a permanent transfer, a loan can’t be ruled out either.
