Barcelona have a Malcom shaped problem.
Having swooped in to sign the player when he was on the verge of signing for AS Roma, Barca haven’t quite yet figured out what to do with him.
The transfer coup has turned into a transfer curiosity, with Ernesto Valverde seemingly not too interested in the Brazilian so far. With the Barcelona manager struggling to include Ousmane Dembele in his core plans, it’s clearly going to be hard for Malcom.
Given all of that, rumours of a transfer have started and, predictably, Tottenham Hotspur have been pulled right in.
That’s because Spurs were interested in the summer, so there’d be an assumption they still are.
Catalan newspaper Sport present the interest as serious, and it’s claimed Tottenham are ‘willing to pay a lot of money’ to get the transfer done in January.
Sport headline with a €50m figure, and that’s what many will report Spurs have offered, but it’s actually claimed the Premier League club are ‘willing to come close’ to such a figure… not that they’ve already offered it.
Yes, Sport say ‘OFERTON!’ on their front page, but that’s misleading.
Tottenham are presented as having entered the race in the past few days, with other clubs also interested.
Right now, this seems a Barcelona domestic, with Spurs and others pulled in.
