Over the past few weeks, claims coming out of the Turkish press have stated Tottenham Hotspur have identified Fenerbahçe’s Sebastian Szymański as a target.
On April 23rd, Damga Gazetesi stated Spurs are serious about signing the 25-year-old in the summer window. A day later, Fotomaç reported the north London club’s offer is expected to arrive at Fenerbahçe.
The attacking midfielder has impressed in his debut season in Turkey, managing 12 goals and 18 assists from 52 games.
Akşam state this has caught the attention of nine clubs, including Tottenham, and all of them have contacted Szymański’s agent. Spurs are the only team named in the report.
It’s claimed Ange Postecoglou’s side have stepped in and intensified their efforts as they want to act quickly to secure a deal for the Poland international. The Yellow Canaries hope to retain the star, but if they can’t, they intend to collect a relatively big fee.
Szymański’s current deal lasts until 2027 and the Istanbul club are expecting €20m to sanction his sale.
He’s also keen on making a switch to England and it’s claimed Tottenham have knocked on Fenerbahçe’s door with an offer that includes bonuses.
The details aren’t mentioned, but it may reach €20m with variables, and the operation is expected to go through after this season.
