Tottenham Hotspur are competing with Atlético Madrid for AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, having tracked him for the last two years.
That’s according to Marca, who say they are looking at the Frenchman as Antonio Conte wants to bolster his defence this summer.
The newspaper explains that Disasi is a target for Atlético Madrid, who have been tracking his performances for the Ligue 1 side for the last few months.
They have approached Monaco to find out about his situation, although the Principality club are not particularly interested in selling a player who they consider a key part of their team.
There is a growing interest in the defender, though, with Atlético, not the only club who are keen on him.
Tottenham have ‘been after’ the player for two years, and this summer, they are ‘interested’ in signing him again.
They have an advantage over the Spanish side as Atlético need to secure sales before they can make their move and thus the ‘important financial effort’ to secure Disasi.
That’s not a problem Tottenham have, having backed Conte with funds this summer to strengthen after securing Champions League football.
