Here we are once again faced with a ‘timeline’ that doesn’t always add up, despite assurances the transfer will go through.
For about two weeks now, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has been on the verge of joining Tottenham from Marseille, with Clinton N’Jié going the other way.
Something has been holding these deals up, and our guess will be Marseille’s finances, which are questionable at best.
On Tuesday evening, La Provence said the deal was mere hours away, with the deal undoubtedly happening, but it seems they’ve changed their tune on Wednesday afternoon.
The local Marseille newspaper now claim the player is expected arrive ‘in the coming days’, suggesting that an announcement for Nkoudou will happen around the same time.
We don’t doubt that this will happen, it just seems to be a matter of when, and that is changing on a daily basis.
The young winger has been out of favour at Tottenham since joining from Lyon, and the loan deal taking him to Marseille should give him the game time needed to hopefully return to White Hart Lane and have a bigger impact.
