Made clear by Mauricio Pochettino that he would not be in Tottenham’s plans for the coming season, Federico Fazio is in a desperate situation to find another club.
Loaned back to Sevilla for the second half of the season, the Argentinean centre-back didn’t exactly impress on his return and Unai Emery’s former side didn’t think it would be worth it to bring him back permanently.
This means a new club is his best bet, and reports over the past few weeks suggest a move to Espanyol in La Liga is on the cards.
In fact, according to Sport on Tuesday, a deal with the Barcelona based club could be done by the end of the week.
Of course, if you’ve been following transfer news for more than a few months, you’ll know that this kind of time-frame means anything in between a few hours and the end of the transfer window.
Just in case you missed it, Pochettino said on Monday that neither Fazio, Nabil Bentaleb nor Alex Pritchard would have any part to play this season and were kindly asked to find other clubs.
And that’s exactly what Fazio is doing.
