Sky Sports making a tiny claim about Tottenham being interested in Alex Telles, as one of a number of options, has made its way to Portugal and been blown up into something rather big by several newspapers, including Jornal de Noticias.

Porto have got money issues and need to raise cash quickly in order to comply with their FFP conditions. That means several players will be sold, and Ricardo Pereira has already left for Leicester City in a deal that brought in €20m plus a further €5m in bonuses.

They need more, and this week the Portuguese press talked Yacine Brahimi’s potential cost down to around €30m, such is the willingness to do a deal. Therefore, should the Tottenham interest in Telles be correct, it’s a perfect opportunity for Daniel Levy to get a good deal.

Interestingly, Tottenham interest would be backed up by the club’s scouting this season. They’ve visited Porto many times, back in September we pointed out Telles could be a possible target after he impressed in front of Spurs official.

They were back several times before the end of year, including in December, and that has carried on in 2018, including a trip in February.

Tottenham’s scouting trips to Porto are significant because they don’t scout in the country as much as some other clubs, suggesting there’s a specific target at the Dragons.
