Tottenham Hotspur are back doing some scouting in the north of Portugal.

As reported by O Jogo today, club officials were present at the League Cup tie between Porto and Sporting this Wednesday.

As this was the first leg of the semifinals, the away team didn’t want to take many risks, leaving all the responsibility to Porto, who ended up getting a modest 1-0 win.

O Jogo doesn’t seem to know who Spurs were especially keeping an eye on, although we have a pretty good idea of what they could be after.

It’s been a long time since the club was first linked to Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira. More so since Kyle Walker left for Manchester City.

But the search for a fullback couldn’t stop there, since there have been enough arguments to believe the Spurs would be interested in Alex Telles as well. The duo have been impressing on both sides of the pitch, so that’s a good team to watch in case you’re looking for players in those positions.

Pereira was much praised by the newspaper, which claims ‘he deserves applause, because he runs in February as if the season was just starting’. Telles, called the ‘assist man’, was complimented for his defensive work.

With doubts over the future of Danny Rose at Tottenham, perhaps Telles, a specialist left back, is the likelier, although Pereira can also play on the left.

Sergio Oliveira and Tiquinho Soares were also mentioned for their good match, as for the away side, goalkeeper Rui Patrício and winger Gelson Martins deserved some special attention.

Other clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham, Montepellier, Juventus, Atalanta, Villareal and Eibar also had scouts in Portugal for this match.
