Tottenham could be one of the options for Stuttgart goalkeeper Gregor Kobel this summer, with a departure ‘getting closer’ for the stopper.
That’s according to Kicker, who speculate that Tottenham could be in for the 23-year-old as they eye a replacement for Hugo Lloris.
The France number one will turn 35 later this year, and while still more than capable, there is a growing sense that Spurs will have to replace him sooner rather than later.
They’ve been linked to several different goalkeepers in the last few months, too, adding to the sense that they are looking for a new number one.
The latest name to add to the list is Kobel, who is ‘getting closer’ to leaving Stuttgart this summer, with director Sven Mislintat recently stating that at “English top club’ is ‘also interested in his signature.
He didn’t name names, but Kicker say that ‘much points’ to Tottenham being that club as they eye a successor for Lloris, whose deal expires next year.
They state that €15-20m can get them Kobel and Mislintat already has his eye on a replacement in the shape of Florian Müller, who will be moved on by Mainz this year.
It seems then; everything is in place for Tottenham to get the 23-year-old, although this link is a little tenuous at the moment, so we’ll hold off on getting too excited just yet.
