Tottenham have been repeatedly linked with Carles Alena in recent days.
A potential move to Spurs has been the subject of front page claims in Spain, and a Barcelona exit certainly isn’t being ruled out.
Mundo Deportivo reports Tottenham have ‘tempted’ the player over a January move, but it’s thought the problems would arise when it comes to the structure of a deal.
Barcelona don’t want to lose control over the 21 year old and would therefore prefer a loan or a sale with an option to buy the player back should they wish.
Down at their end, Spurs don’t want to be a finishing school for the Blaugrana prospect and would want a permanent transfer with no clause for Barca to take Alena back in the future.
Alena hasn’t ruled out an exit in the winter market, and with Mauricio Pochettino pushing things from Tottenham’s end there’s perhaps a little hope this one isn’t completely dead.
Spurs ‘want to get hold of him’, but may need to compromise.
