This week, we’ve covered several stories from the Italian media regarding Tottenham Hotspur interest in AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
It was first claimed that Fabio Paratici spoke to the player’s agent on the phone, and then stated that the talks between the clubs are on, despite Spurs’ first failed attempts for the signing. It was also said a new attempt could be made soon.
As the local press continues to bring updates on Zaniolo’s situation, especially because Juventus are also said to be keen on his signing, there’s now interesting information coming from Sport Mediaset (via Tutto Juve).
There, journalist Daniele Micele claims that the midfielder seems to be ‘oriented towards staying’ at Roma this season, with both his teammates and José Mourinho asking him to continue at the club.
However, the reporter also pointed out that ‘the only team that can break the balance are Tottenham’, as only Spurs could convince the Giallorossi. The London side apparently ‘have the financial means to reach the €50m request’ made by the Serie A side.
It had already been said in the Italian media that Juventus were struggling to meet Roma’s demands, so it’s no surprise to see Antonio Conte’s side looking alone in the race.
Now if the London side will really each that price tag… well, that’s another story.
