Schalke’s season continues to stutter on, and now without Europa League football the German club can fully focus on their woeful Bundesliga campaign. Currently 11th in the table, Schalke have had a shocker, leading to a blame game going on at the club.

Bild expect Schalke to lose several of their biggest name players this summer, and one of those is Tottenham target Max Meyer. Mauricio Pochettino’s club made an approach towards the end of the last summer transfer window, but were put off by a big asking price and moved on to other targets.

It’s conceivable to believe Tottenham bought Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United instead, and that’s a transfer which hasn’t worked out for Pochettino. With one season left on his contract after the current one, Meyer would be cheaper for Tottenham this time around, and the club are continually picked out as a likely destination.

Bild say Tottenham remain the ‘hottest’ destination for Meyer, who it’s stated ‘sees his future somewhere else’ and will look to move on in the summer. Depending on price, and that’s something which is falling, Tottenham could bag themselves a bargain.

Selling Sissoko for more than Tottenham would pay for Meyer, which could be around €20m, would seem a good piece of business.
