Kara Mbodj is one of several Anderlecht players for whom an exit is considered likely this summer. During the January transfer window it was Leicester City who were most linked with the defender, but since then it’s arguably been Crystal Palace’s winter approach which has been most written about in Belgium.
Tuesday’s edition of Het Nieuwsblad reports both Leicester and Crystal Palace submitted offers of around €10m, but Anderlecht were determined not to sell halfway through the season, even if it meant getting less money in the end.
Leicester and Crystal Palace may well have more competition, but they could be handed the transfer on a plate. Het Nieuwsblad explain that Mbodj stayed at Anderlecht on the condition he can leave for a fixed fee this summer.
Although the amount isn’t stated, Anderlecht are said to want more than the €4.5m they paid Genk for the defender, but recognise it will be less than the €10m already offered.
At Crystal Palace, Mbodj would be seen as an alternative in case it’s impossible to get Mamadou Sakho permanently, and at Leicester City the 27 year old could be seen as an alternative to either Wesley Morgan or Robert Huth.
