Tottenham are ‘still very interested’ in a move for Atlético Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco, who is set to be put up for sale by the Spanish side.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who cover the situation around the Belgian today and name Tottenham among his potential suitors in January.
They explain that Atlético are planning sales in the January transfer window as they need to cover a hole in their finances.
The club already needed €40m after the summer but have now added €30m to that after failing to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.
Sales are now needed and there is a list of players they are willing to let go in January to help raise the funds required.
Carrasco is one of them. He had ‘good offers’ from the Premier League in the last winter window and could have moved but stayed loyal to Atlético because he was promised an improvement in his contract.
That has not arrived, and his performances have not been what they were last season, so Atlético are open to a sale.
The Premier League is still very interested in him, ‘especially in the case of Tottenham’ who are eyeing signings for Antonio Conte to build on their start to the season.
They were also keen in the summer and last month we even covered reports that Atlético were regretting their decision to reject their offer.
Now Carrasco has very much been put up for sale and it seems likely Tottenham will be back in the picture for his signature.
